Happy Wine Wednesday! Today’s wine comes from various places throughout California to create the perfect Cabernet Sauvignon. Big and bold, it’s Murphy, Murphy Goode!
Murphy-Goode assembled this fine Cabernet from various North Coast grapes places like the Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Mendocino County. It is made of mostly Cabernet (80%) and a small amount of Merlot (20%) for blending purposes.
Ruby colors and brambly fruits greet you on the nose with a touch of peppery spice. Right off you know this is a going to be a big Cab. Indeed, this Cabernet Sauvignon has big bold berry flavors of plum, blackberry and cherry fruit; It is smooth and deep with a pinch of vanilla and sweet oak for a long finish. It is well balanced and very harmonious. This is definitely a Cab lovers Cab.
Priced moderately between $12-14, this could be enjoyed every day for any occasion. But it’s also bold enough to save for a special meal or occasion. It is found locally at some of the bigger wine stores like Total Wine and supermarkets like Whole Foods and Albertsons and they have a great store locator. This would be better enjoyed with food due to the big and bold nature so pair bold with bold and spice with spice to balance the meal. This would probably be great with Mexican and Indian dishes or big, hard cheeses like Taleggio, Gruyere and Cheddar. It’s up to you! Enjoy!
