Hello and Happy Friday! These weeks are just zooming along, aren’t they? So much to read. So little time. Don’t worry, I’ve picked some very interesting stuff for you this week!
Food: How fancy is your table salt? America’s first-ever fleur de sel is from Oregon and top chefs love it!
Wine: A rather lofty nod to one of my favorite regions, the North Fork of Long Island.
Travel: These stunning shots from County Sligo in Ireland will make you yearn for that fair isle.
Animals: A seeing eye cat. Yes, a cat!
NYC: This week marked 12 years since the September 11 attacks in New York City. Here is one man’s riveting account of escaping Tower 1. Dust to dust, this art installation grabs at the heart of the matter.
Photography: Over 100 rescue dogs helped search for survivors in those hours and days following the September 11 attacks. Here are the last dozen remaining dogs.
Arts: Vincent Van Gogh’s painting “Sunset at Montmajour” was discovered sitting in an attic since 1928.
Television: A look at Breaking Bad’s Albuquerque through the eyes of a native.
Science: Rare dolphins and whales you never seen before.
Environment: Who doesn’t love a VW bus? Volkswagen is stopping production in the last place they are produced, Brazil, because they don’t comply with safety laws. Goodbye Magic Bus…
This week on The Fiery Redhead…
This beautiful and scrumptious Lavender Honey Fig Crostini. Did I mention the blue cheese? Seriously, this is one of the best things I’ve made in a while and it took minutes.
I visited a new winery, Kontokosta, on the North Fork and I was wowed! Both red and whites were excellent and they are located right on the sound. You can walk to the bluffs overlooking Long Island Sound. Here is their lovely Viognier.
And I debuted a new series on the blog this week called Inspired By. I’m very excited at the possibilities! This week is all about birds…
Have a great weekend everyone!
