Happy Wine Wednesday! Today’s wine is a dark and lush Côtes du Rhône from Southern France. Come away with me for a taste of this great region, won’t you?
Located at a high elevation in the Southern Rhone region, this earthy and smooth wine is produced by third generation winemaker, Gilles Ferran. Utilizing only organic fertilizer and traditional farming customs like hand sorting and picking the grapes at harvest, this is a tenderly created vintage from the Rasteau appellation.
Like most Grenache-based reds, this is juicy and generous: Rich scents of blackberry and chocolate on the nose while ripe and lush, dark fruit dances on the palate. Medium to full-bodied; this is smooth, front to back, with very little spice. Made of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, this is perfect to drink now but could be something to add to the wine cellar and revisit in another five years.
Recently enjoyed (loved) at an anniversary dinner, this did not disappoint. Ooh Grenache, you temptress! Enjoy!
