Happy Wine Wednesday! Today’s wine, a rosato or rosé, comes from Italy and is made of 100% pink Nebbiolo grapes. Pink! Think rosé is just for the French? Hello Italy!
This Italian vineyard has been farmed by the same family, Valdinera, for four generations and claims to be organic in nature, using no artificial fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. Piedmont, literally meaning “the foot of the mountains”, lies at the bottom of the Italian Alps and is known for producing Italy and Europe’s finest Nebbiolo wines. One secret may be in their tannins that allow the wines to age very well. But this rosé is meant to be enjoyed now!
This Italian rosato is tangy and bright on the nose with a distinct deep salmon color. Light tart cherry and a touch of strawberry and melon fruit flavors round out this full and exciting wine. There is even a touch of light pepper on the smooth and clean finish; This is a rosé for the red wine lover! Enjoy!
