This Sonoma Zinfandel is everything you’ve dreamed about: scents of blackberry and cherry juice along with rich, candied fruit and even a hint of mint greet you. This is an extraordinary Zinfandel in that both deep fruit and spice meld perfectly to create a smooth and silky finish. Raisins and currants meet light white pepper and mint. This has big fruit and medium spice like a Zinfandel should but finishes like a fine Pinot Noir. This is an outstanding red wine.
This wine would pair nicely with so many things as it is truly a fine red. Don’t be afraid to pair bold reds with something like your Thanksgiving meal. It would compliment the rich and creamy mashed potatoes and glazed vegetables. Forget about the cranberry sauce! Heaven! And dessert? Oh boy. Most food this time of year is rich so why not give it something to talk about…
Wilson creates some of the finest Zinfandels in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley. Treat yourself next time you’re in California and visit their tasting room and find out why this East Coaster travels back again and again to drink this wonderful wine.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Eat, drink and most importantly, be happy and thankful!
